12 Great Heavy Metal Deep Cuts
2. Judas Priest - Persecution
Judas Priest tend not to get the credit they deserve. Unless you're talking to someone who was there at the time, you will struggle to find someone who actually likes the band.
Let's face it, the over the top leather and spikes haven't aged well. That being said, without the legendary albums like 'British Steel' and 'Painkiller', the metal scene as it is today would be drastically different.
Incredibly, the band are still together and released an album as recently as 2018. Though these later albums are mainly picked up by die hard fans from the early years, there are still some great tracks among the newest efforts.
2008's 'Nostradamus' was an ambitious concept album and the last to feature founding member K.K Downing. The double disc release was far from a hit with fans, gaining a lukewarm reaction at best. Sadly it means that stand out tracks like 'Persecution' have been forgotten.
The track features lyrics that are still relevant today - the theme being the oppression caused by organised religion to marginalised groups.
