12 Greatest Duos In Hard Rock

9. Tom Morello/Zack de la Rocha - Rage Against the Machine

When Rage Against the Machine first got their groove going, the idea of rap-metal was still a relatively new concept. While bands like Aerosmith and Anthrax had collaborated with hip hop artists like Run-DMC and Public Enemy respectively, this band was the first of its kind to please both the rock and rap fans in equal measure. Every member of this band is indispensable, but when dealing with the raw power of the band, it always comes down to Tom Morello and Zack de la Rocha.

Being the voice of the band, Rocha's lyrics are some of the most scathing anti-conformist statements in the entire rock canon, going after radical politicians the world over on tracks like "Testify" and "Down Rodeo." Any rock band would kill for his delivery, but Rage had a second musical wizard in Morello, who approached his guitar like a mad scientist.

Instead of playing the same solo sections of his guitar idols, Morello threw out the rules and created his own style with feedback and sound effects, which made him an unofficial DJ in the band. With the band set to reemerge in the next year, here's hoping the glorious mix of anger and chaos will be brought to life once these guys hit the stage.
