12 Greatest Nu-Metal Bands Of All Time

3. Korn

Widely considered as the founding fathers of the Nu Metal genre, Korn started gaining attention in the metal scene after their eponymous debut album release in 1995. With songs like ‘Blind’ and ‘Clown’ in particular earning praise from critics for their fresh take on the metal genre.

Korn’s early work and new sound influenced many other bands, such as Slipknot and Limp Bizkit, and music critics needed a name for the emerging scene, thus the term ‘Nu Metal’ was born.

Fittingly, Korn were one of the first bands from the scene to infiltrate the music charts with songs like ‘Freak On A Leash’ receiving regular plays within the mainstream media after the release of their groundbreaking ‘Follow The Leader’ album in 1998.

Remaining relevant to this day, Korn continue to experiment with their sound. Most notably in 2011 when they collaborated with multiple dubstep artists, including Skrillex, on their ‘The Path Of Totality’ album.
