12 Greatest Nu-Metal Bands Of All Time
6. System Of A Down
Is it even possible to put a genre label on a band like System Of A Down?
The band themselves have repeatedly stated that they do not see themselves belonging to any one music scene. Their albums regularly feature an eclectic mix of music styles, making them hard to place into a genre, however, when they were making their way up in the music industry, they would often tour with bands like Slipknot and Korn and were labeled as a band from the Nu Metal scene.
Their self-titled debut album and 2001’s ‘Toxicity’ did contain elements of the Nu Metal genre, with the latter album thrusting System into the mainstream with songs like ‘Chop Suey!’ and ‘Aerials’ receiving regular radio plays.
Maintaining a dedicated following thanks to their unique style, fans of the band continue to hold out hope for new material from System Of A Down, although they have not released an album since their ‘Mezmerize/Hypnotize’ double album in 2005.
