12 Greatest Nu-Metal Bands Of All Time
5. Slipknot
Slipknot are a band that regularly try to distance themselves from their Nu Metal label, with lead singer, Corey Taylor, often denying their association with the sub-genre.
However, they were certainly considered part of the scene during its late 90s/early 2000s boom period. Although it would be fair to say that Slipknot almost forged out a sub-genre of the sub-genre by adding a heavier, thrash metal element to their music.
Slipknot stood out from the pack with their unique look and intense, aggressive live performances. Many would have seen them as a ‘flash in the pan’ and a band that would have disappeared from the mainstream along with the Nu Metal scene after it’s brief invasion of the charts.
But their evolving sound and dedicated fanbase has seen Slipknot remain one of the most significant heavy metal bands in the world to this day, with their albums still regularly topping the rock music charts.
