12 Hard Rock Bands That Quit In Their Prime

10. A Perfect Circle

A Perfect Circle were a musical marvel in their time. Just when you thought that Maynard James Keenan had reached his apex with Tool, this side project with mastermind Billy Howerdel were a different beast entirely, with a more ethereal approach to song crafting.

While songs may not have been as head-splitting as what you'd find on a Tool record, tracks like "Judith" and "The Outsider" have each become modern classics in the hard rock world. Right as the band seemed to be gearing up for another amazing record, each member of the group promptly returned to their main projects. With Howerdel working on several ventures with former members, one wonders why they even decided to cut things off in the first place.

It really is a shame that the band decided to leave their work untouched at the time. Sure, it makes sense to the legacy intact if it's the right time, but after the band's sophomore release Thirteenth Step, they seemed to be on the cusp of writing even more great material. Though we finally did get an eventual reunion from the band in the form of 2018's Eat the Elephant, the radio silence that we had before then was absolutely infuriating.
