12 Hard Rock Bands That Quit In Their Prime
4. My Chemical Romance
Out of all the pre-teen emo bands coming out in the early 2000's, My Chemical Romance definitely stood out as something special. Instead of being a bunch of whiny teens complaining about life in the suburbs, these guys were bringing the old guard of rock and roll up a few notches with grand tales of death and destruction.
However, as the band came off of their opus The Black Parade, the wheels began falling off behind the scenes. After losing drummer Bob Bryar shortly after finishing the tour, the band were floundering to round out the lineup as they went into their next album Danger Days. While the band were able to complete their next album with flying colors, the tour was plagued with problems including drummer Michael Pedicone stealing from the band during the shows.
Once they band recuperated, they seemed to be on steady ground to start work on their next album. After the release of the B-sides collection Conventional Weapons though, the band let the fans know that they had broken up with no animosity towards one another. Shortly after the announcement, Gerard Way confirmed the breakup, citing that the band didn't want to put out anything disingenuous or phoned-in. Given the stellar legacy they have left behind, it may have been the right call after all.
