2. Rammstein Waidmanns Heil
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txtkw_IgYgg Rammstein have never been known to dabble in screaming vocals. Their singer Till Lindemann has enough of a bellow on him to pummel anyone into submission with an utterly operatic voice. The German industrial group have been going since the early nineties, and have become one of the most widely recognised and influential metal bands in the world. The band are perhaps best known for their mesmeric stage shows that combine stunning, innovative pyrotechnic displays with truly commanding performances from the band. But it's their work on-record that cements their reputation as leviathans of the metal world. Their most recent album Liebe Ist Für Alle Da might not be their best, but it still embodies all those elements that have propelled the band to their current status. Waidmanns Heil opens with a curious horn section, before quickly descending upon the listener with a thick layer of drop-tuned guitars and heavy, unforgiving percussion. The guitarists work together to create a deep, chugging backing to the whole track that is superbly suited to Lindemann's naturally low vocals. Keyboardist, Christian 'Flake' Lorenz , then adds pulsating, trance-like sections to the song that build on the churning rhythm guitars, while Lindemann delivers some of his most lung-emptying roars through the track's chorus. The combination of all these elements, put together with a brilliant, clean production, results in Rammstein's most powerful song yet.
