12 Most Brutally Heavy Metal Albums EVER
7. Ace Of Spades - Motorhead
There's no getting around talking about heaviness in music without bringing up Motorhead. The band's frontman Lemmy Kilmister stood by the band's sound as rock and roll, but the thick guitar chords and rumbling bass always owed itself to something much more powerful. Though most Motorhead albums have a certain level of kickass, Ace of Spades remains the band's definitive blast of energy.
Starting off with the manic title track, this record never lets up when it comes to bringing you a good helping of hard rock and metal. Drummer Phil Taylor delivers an absolutely showstopping performance across every track, proving that he was not only one of best drummers in rock, but also a progenitor to the thrash and speed metal genres later down the road. While Fast Eddie Clark also contributed an impeccable guitar performance, the greatness of this band always radiated from Lemmy's beating heart.
The man's razor-torn vocal delivery and odes to badassery like on "The Chase is Better Than The Catch" are some of the most lowdown and dirty tracks to have ever been penned by a rock musician. Whereas most bands would try to find their metal stripes in speed or complex riffs, Motorhead showed up and conquered the metal world by being the most savage rock band of all time.
