12 Most Hated Classic Rock Songs (On Great Albums)
5. Roll The Bones - Rush
By the time Rush had gotten into the late 80's, they had accomplished more in 2 decades than most could hope to do within the span of their entire career. From synthesized rock to prog epics to blues rock, the band seemed to take every great style that they liked and translated it into some of the most adventurous rock music ever produced.
Roll the Bones from 1991 feels like another worthy inclusion in Rush's classics, with songs like "Dreamline" and "Ghost of a Chance" getting the band back in touch with their roots and "Where's My Thing?" providing yet another fantastic instrumental into the band's arsenal. Once you reach the title track though, things start to go off the rails.
A good 75% of this tune is great, with the lyrics detailing Neil Peart's lifestyle of taking chances due the world's unpredictability. However, the track gets cringey really quick once the band decided to include a rap section midway through the track. Rather than find an actual rapper to perform it, they decided to just let Geddy Lee perform the rap and pitch shift it down in the final mix. The song's message is very poignant, but this experiment made the band feel more like dads rather than musical innovators.
