12 Most Hated Hard Rock Albums (From Great Bands)
10. Dynasty - KISS
Ever since their start in the early 70's, KISS was the embodiment of everything awesome about rock and roll. Sure, the face makeup and stage theatrics may have seemed a bit campy for some to digest, but the songs were always some of the most forceful hard rock the genre had to offer.
As the decade turned the corner and music started to change though, the band decided to venture outward to different influences. Once Dynasty was released, many fans were appalled to hear the opening strains of "I Was Made For Lovin You." Instead of a hardhitting groove, this was the sound of the biggest rock band in the world going disco. Though the band had slower songs before, the beat of this new track seemed to be too Donna Summer for most rock purists.
While most of the record after that is pretty standard KISS awesomeness, it wasn't enough to shake the initial shock factor of the first single. Dynasty still garners a sour reputation for some KISS fans as the band's sell-out record, where all the magic of the early years began to unravel. Behind the scenes, the band were also parting ways with Peter Criss and having other issues with Ace Frehley, which fueled the ongoing fire that the hottest band in the land was on the rocks.
