12 Most Hated Hard Rock Albums (From Great Bands)
8. Generation Swine - Motley Crue
Breaking onto the scene in the early 80's, Motley Crue were the ideal band for the Sunset Strip. From their crazy stage antics to their hooky choruses, the band had the definitive look that would go on to shape the hair metal scene in Los Angeles. While the band ended the decade on a high note with their triumphant Dr. Feelgood record, things began to unravel pretty quickly.
After a brief stint with singer Vince Neil leaving the band, the band continued with John Corabi for an album that quickly fell on deaf ears. By the time Neil returned to the fold, the sound of rock music had strayed far from the band's glam roots. In an attempt to experiment, the band made Generation Swine, which incorporated more elements of industrial and electronic music into the fold.
Instead of coming off as a bold new reinvention of sound, the record feels more like what happens if you tell Twisted Sister to play Nine Inch Nails. Even some of the band members aren't afraid to throw shade at this album, with Vince Neil calling it out for having way too much experimentation. Though the band's earlier works still hold up impressively well, Generation Swine still feels like a forgotten relic from the late 90's.
