12 Non-Headline Bands You Should See At Reading & Leeds

7. Eagulls

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVcGkU2b5Ak Where/When: Lock Up Stage, Reading: Friday, Leeds: Sunday Continuing Leeds' current knack for big, noisy rock music (after Hookworms, whose member MJ helped them record their debut EP), Eagulls combine post-punk with elements of indie and shoegaze, forming some sort of Reading & Leeds fit-for-purpose hybrid that encompasses everything that makes the festival so special. The five-piece fuse the likes of recent headliners The Cure with some more confrontational, punk-rocking sound, befitting their recent support slots with Manic Street Preachers, Pulled Apart By Horses, and Franz Ferdinand. Performances have often strayed into chaos, and their opinionated, strong-willed attitude has attracted as much controversy as it has acclaim. With a habit of lambasting other acts, the five-piece once wrote on their website, 'WITHOUT YOUR '90S HAIRSTYLES OVER YOUR UGLY FACES YOU HAVE NOTHING'. Quite the claim, one that should make their placement amongst many a '90s-hairstyled group incredibly interesting this festival season.
