6. The Bohicas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l1joxKzJ-k Where/When: Festival Republic Stage, Reading: Sunday, Leeds: Friday "We wanted to write a song with just one chord but it ended up having two. It was a sacrifice but I think it was a good decision." That's the kind of band The Bohicas are. Speaking of their signature tune 'XXX', the band's simplistic approach to songwriting echoes that of their influences, ranging from The Beatles to Chuck Berry, The Strokes to Kings of Leon. It's that quick-paced rock 'n' roll sound that attracts vast crowds to their shows, as well as the attention of esteemed label Domino Records, home of Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand. Live, the band engages in furious, fast-paced rock 'n' roll, and with all three strings-men sharing singing duties, it helps create a huge party atmosphere that goes unrivaled by most other bands on the touring circuit today. It's stylish, it's sleek, and it's classic - the band are regularly kitted out in leather jackets, black jeans, and desert boots - but it's not a step out of time with the vast majority of sounds you'll hear elsewhere at the festival.
