12 Perfect Classic Rock Albums With NO Bad Songs
1. Revolver - The Beatles
By the end of 1965, The Beatles had weathered enough experience as celebrities for any other musicians' lifetime. To their legions of screaming fans around the world, these four lads from Liverpool were almost treated like gods among men who were playing the teenybopper music for the masses. Once the tides of music began to change though, Revolver was one of our first glimpses of something new happening underneath those moptops.
As soon as you put the needle in the groove on this record, this was a far different set of songs than the typical love songs that turned on A Hard Day's Night. Even compared to their delving into folk rock on Rubber Soul, Revolver burst the possibilities wide open for a rock band, from the abrasive sounds of George Harrison's Taxman to Paul McCartney running the gamut of genres from classical on Eleanor Rigby to going full R&B on Got to Get You Into My Life.
Nowhere is the change more apparent than on Tomorrow Never Knows, which still feels like it could have been recorded today with just how trippy the production is and the layers of tape loops that weave in and out of the song. After Revolver came out, the bow had now been broken. Now the possibilities of rock were nearly endless, and the Beatles were about to explore every facet of them for the rest of their career.
