12 PERFECT Metal Albums With NO Bad Songs

2. Master of Reality - Black Sabbath

Whenever you even think of talking about metal, it all ends up coming back to Black Sabbath. After making their way through the '60s as a blues act, the band came roaring to life in the early '70s with some of the heaviest music anyone could have asked for. Records like Paranoid and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath may have their fans, but the real darkness of this band came during their third album.

Coming off the success of Paranoid, Master of Reality sees the band going down an even heavier road, with some of the greatest riffs to ever come from Tony Iommi's guitar. From the opening stoner jam "Sweet Leaf" to the grand opus of "Into the Void," the album is full of amazing material. Though there are a few slower interludes like "Orchid" which smooth things out, they only serve as segues to soothe you for the bludgeoning you're about to receive.

Seeing how this was the record where Iommi first started to tune his guitar down, every riff has an even sharper edge to it, which culminates in one of the greatest performances of their career on "Children of the Grave." Sabbath would spend a few more decades gracing us with hymns of doom, but this is the first time that the band depicted metal from top to bottom.
