12 PERFECT Metal Albums With NO Bad Songs
1. Ride the Lightning - Metallica
Metallica have become one of the biggest names in the metal community for over 3 decades now. Ever since the band debuted with Kill Em All, they have graced the world with metal classics, whether it be defining the thrash metal genre on Master of Puppets or acquiring a whole new legion of fans with the hard rock crossover of the Black Album. There are a few contenders Metallica have for a list like this, but Ride the Lightning is pretty much everything you need from one of the band's albums.
While Master of Puppets may be the firm thrash statement, the band's second offering really shows what they could do, as they take on new sonic avenues without a care in the world. Right out of the gate, "Fight Fire With Fire" tears your head off with its intensity, which never lets up even when going through slower moments like "Fade to Black" or "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
The band even test the limits of their own musicianship on "The Call of Ktulu," which features one of the greatest performances bassist Cliff Burton ever laid down. Though the band has felt indifference towards the song "Escape," you know you have a good album on your hands when this track could be considered subpar.
Master of Puppets may have been the band's definitive masterpiece, but this is the sound of a band still at the peak of their powers, with songs that were bound to be classics from the moment you heard them.
