12 Problems Only My Chemical Romance Fans Will Understand

3. The Whole Emo Thing

When it comes to labelling My Chemical Romance fans, The Daily Mail is only the tip of the iceberg.

For years fans have had to put up with being labelled €œemo€ for enjoying one of rock and rolls most exciting acts in years. Sadly, people will always feel the need to use labels. It might not have even been so bad if there weren't such serious connotations associated €“ assumptions of depression, sociopathy and self-harm were all pretty standard €“ and that's not to mention the culture of actual physical violence against €œemos€ that emerged in the mid 2000s. What many non-fans don't realise is the diversity of My Chemical Romance's music, from the raw and heavy I Brought You My Bullets to the bombastic rock opera that was The Black Parade to the kick ass rock and roll on Danger Days, few other fans have had to deal with such insistent stereotyping as My Chemical Romance fans.
