12 Problems Only My Chemical Romance Fans Will Understand

4. No More Elaborate Concepts

My Chemical Romance's amazing music videos were only made possible through elaborate concepts, which originated with the band's albums, stringing together songs and incorporating stage theatrics and costumes to form elaborate worlds. As an avid comic book reader and writer, it's no surprise Gerard has a taste for the theatrical.

During the Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge era, the band adopted black suits and striking red ties along with dark eye make-up. Each subsequent release became more and more elaborate. The Black Parade, for example, was centred around the concept of a hospital patient dying and journeying through the afterlife, being met at the point of his demise by a ghoulish yet lavish parade. The concept was heightened even further with the release of Danger Days, during which the band starred as a gang of rebels battling against the corrupt corporation Better Living Industries in post-apocalyptic California. They even released a comic book alongside the album, too. What might the concept for The Paper Kingdom have been? Having stated he wanted to go in a darker direction, one can only imagine the insanity Gerard and the band were cooking up. Sigh.
