12 Unbelievably Underrated Beatles Tracks
3. Sun King (Abbey Road)
"Sun King" appeared on the infamous Abbey Road album and was written predominantly by John Lennon. The song features in the legendary climactic medley that takes up the majority of the second half of the album. It's an interesting song in that the last couple of lines are sung in a sort of Liverpudlian Spanish concocted by the boys during the end of the recording.
Lennon had a habit of slating his songs with "Sun King" another of his tunes unable to escape the wrath of his acid tongue. A few years after its release Lennon claimed that the song was "a piece of garbage" that he had previously thrown away.
Unfortunately, the song is also unliked by a large number of other people or at least it has been forgotten. This is probably down to its track listing within the Abbey Road medley where it is sandwiched between the much more famous "You Never Give Me Your Money" and the upbeat and wonderfully nonsensical, "Mean Mr. Mustard."
