https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYzm43gI59E In a rare case of the cover version wildly surpassing the original, Black Label Society's take on Lynyrd Skynyrd's "I Never Dreamed" is the kind of song that just rips a guy's heart out. No BS on this track, just a hardcore biker dude bearing his soul about the girl who left him because he messed up. Its simplicity--and lack of any crazy guitar antics--might surprise those who favor lead singer/guitarist Zakk Wylde's more bombastic approach to shredding, like the kind that he typically did as a guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. But this song isn't about technique, it's about soul. It's unfortunate that this was stuffed away at the end of the album, because more people should recognize Black Label Society as more than an average sludge metal ban. "I Never Dreamed" should be required listening for anyone trying to get into the band.
