https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxmz2LKMZ4o The 1991 edition of the almost two decades long rock festival was a sad watershed moment for live music in America, marking the last of the real Day On The Green events with the passing of promoter Bill Graham. Rather fittingly, the bill was a genius bit of booking, putting Metallica on the same bill as Queensrÿche, Faith No More, and Soundgarden. Yes, the band played again in 1992 after Grahams death in a helicopter accident, but it didnt quite match the brilliance or importance of the moment. In an incredible set, the band premiered Wherever I May Roam, Through The Never, Holier Than Thou and The Unforgiven adding further historical relevance.
