13 Greatest Ever Metallica Live Performances

3. Live At Grimey€™s, Nashville, 2008

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlL5txa2cHg#t=22 So-called secret shows are invariably some of the most hotly-anticipated and feverishly relived of any bands, let alone a giant of Metallica€™s scale in 2008, which is why this show at the Nashville venue is so fondly remembered. Shunning their usual stadium and arena venues, the band played to a bulging house in the basement of the music store in front of just 150 baying, wide-eyed fans. They might be accused of self-indulgence and losing touch with the fans, but this small scale intimate gig - which obviously traded nothing in noise or impact - disproved the claims, as well as reinforcing their adeptness at playing all manner of venues. Unlike the larger gigs, this performance allowed the born entertainers to interact even more with their crowd, feeding off the hot, swet-drenched energy of the lucky few in attendance to explosive effect, which is really sold on the EP that hit independent stores afterwards.
