13 Problems Only The Smiths Fans Will Understand

5. That "Golden Lights" Is The Smiths' Worst Song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idM2F62BbaA Every Smiths fan - of both casual and diehard varieties - share a mutual dislike of one song by their most beloved band. In fact, it might just be the only truly skip-worthy song that The Smiths ever put out. Heck, it almost certainly is. "Golden Lights," then, is actually a cover of a song by Twinkle, recorded at Morrissey's request because... well, because he's Morrissey, isn't he? But this was entirely unnecessary, and is actually kind of pretentious. It's also sort of unlistenable, in the sense that no Smiths fan - in their right mind - would actually sit through this song more than once. There's just no need, given how awesome everything else that the Smiths produced in their short time together is. Why waste your time with a cover of "Golden Lights" when you could listen to "Reel Around the Fountain" for the seventy-seventh time instead? You just wouldn't. You wouldn't.
