4. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
J-Pop/synthpop/bubblegum A few artists ago, I described Anamanaguchi as sounding like happiness, but Ill admit its more the manic sugar fuelled rush of happiness. Whereas, when we arrive here at Kyary Pamyu Pamyu what we have is simply unadulterated, joyous, happy; more akin to sunshine and childhood and playing in a park, than bombing too many sweets whilst downing Panda Pops and snorting multicoloured sherbert. Though sometimes its a little bit like that. Kyary Kyary Pamyu is Japanese singer, model and blogger Kiriko Takemura who is quite the star throughout Asia, but has come to be known as the J-Pop Princess as, unlike many of her peers, she has begun to receive recognition outside of Asia, with her renown steadily rising in the west. On the back of a new album that is likely to continue with its ability to skip between J-Pop, dance music, synthpop, chiptune and bubblegum pop quite freely and seamlessly. Its uniquely Japanese, but thats actually what will play in Kyary Pamyu Pamyus favour when conquering the west. http://youtu.be/GivkxpAVVC4
