11. Bodies of Water
country/folk/noir-psychedelia Heres where I get really excited, again, as I introduce you to Bodies of Water. A kind of a reverse to how it was with Tall Ships; wherein, I first stumbled upon them and immediately had to share them with a friend as I decided theyd definitely feature in this feature, when I eventually got around to writing it. I should really thank Spotify for these, as I found them when trawling aimlessly from Related Artist to Related Artist. I cant remember how I got there, but I was glad when I had it may have started with Laura Marling, and somewhere down the line ended with Bodies of Water. Anyhow, the band hail from Los Angeles, and have an open door and communal policy when it comes to members, but its core members are husband and wife duo David and Meredith Metcalf. Theyve unfortunately not released anything, that I can find, since their 2011 album Twist Again, but their concoction of indie, country, folk, gospel and 60s psychedelia that brings to mind anyone from The Mamas & The Papas to Arcade Fire to The Byrds by way of an Americana that hints had noir. http://youtu.be/2rDWnVBiTLY
