13 Thoughts You've Had If You've Ever Started A Band
10. Covers Or Original Stuff?
Covers can be learned quickly and efficiently. You don't all need to be present at the same time, you can go off, learn it during the week, and then when it's time for band practise, you just need to be in time with one another, and fit it all together.
The trouble is, it doesn't sound very original. You could always put your own spin on it somehow, add in some cool distortion. Yeah, that sounds amazing. That distortion pedal will be the only pedal you ever need.
But while everyone likes covers (so long as you do them well), because they know the sons already, you'll never become a real back without some tracks of your own.
It's a bit of a balancing act, but by the time you get around to playing gigs, you want to be confident you have a good few covers nailed, and then some pretty decent tracks of your own. Should be easy to put some original stuff together, right?
