13 Thoughts You've Had If You've Ever Started A Band

9. Song Writing

Ummm... (A.K.A. Why is it so hard to write one good song?)

Writer's block is a killer at the best of times. When it hits you during an important exam it can feel like the end of the world - but often, the pressure of deadlines spurs you to write anything, and you quickly shake your jitters.

Writing a song is a different beast entirely. There are no time constraints, so you have all the time in the world to sit and stew in your own lack of creativity. You could write a song about having writers block, but where's the originality in that?

Ah, stuff originality, anything will do. Here we go:

Where are you, words? / You ain't floating around like you used to be / Come on, words! / You've gotta come on down and rescue me...

Urgh. OK, guys - new rule: no writing songs about writers block. They are no good. No good at all.
