14 Phenomenal Bands To Watch Out For In 2014

1. Kasabian

Finally, to end things on is possibly the largest British rock band of the 21st century. Kasabian have proved themselves as a force to be reckoned with countless times now, with four incredibly-successful albums - three of which were number ones - paired with insane live performances, including multiple festival headline slots. Their sound is close to the more raucous of Primal Scream's back catalogue, with a hint of the undying confidence of Britpop band Oasis, plus a large dose of electronica to add a personal touch to the proceedings. Every album released by the band so far has been adored by critics and the public alike, with their last release "Velociraptor" selling well over 90,000 within its first week, receiving near-flawless reviews from every major music publication. So it came as very welcome news when at the end of last year Sergio Pizzorno (guitar and backing vocals) announced that LP number five was being worked on, with a release expected within this year. The album is being cited by the band as "The future sound of Rock'n'Roll", apparently drawing inspiration from acts such as "Rage Against the Machine", "Led Zeppelin", "The Prodigy" and bizarrely "Kanye West" to create an album that no one else could ever have dreamed up. One thing is certain this is going to be a far more aggressive offering from the band than any we've seen before with statements being issued of this being a massive attack on anyone who dares doubt the Leicester-based band's ambitions, not that anyone would be naive enough to. Also confirmed soon after was that Kasabian would be playing a homecoming gig of massive proportions to an estimated 60,000 people within Victoria Park, Leicester in June of this year. This is highly reminiscent of The Stone Roses massive comeback gigs two years ago, and is likely to be just as unmissable. The reason for choosing a homecoming gig now seems to be largely tied in with the band celebrating ten years since the release of their debut LP, alongside being able to show off the new direction they're going to be taking the band within the coming years, through the inclusion of never-before-heard tracks.
