14 Things Only Trivium Fans Will Understand

3. Matt Heafy's Vocals Have Come A LONG Way

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxyYExgn0SE Heafy noted has noted in many recent interviews that "screaming was easy. Singing is hard", and if you look back at various things in the band's career (like mentioning around the time of The Crusade that none of the bands they grew up listening to screamed, alongside re-editing Dying In Your Arms' harsh part to be clean), you start to see this is always a band that fully embraced the power of clean vocals. Vengeance Falls was a huge turning point then, as Matt noted thanks to David Draiman's expert coaching, he was now a far more confident and capable singer - something you can feel bellowing out the speakers on the newer recordings. Even fans of the more aggressive material have been positively bowled over by the sheer power of his delivery on both Silence in the Snow and Blind Leading The Blind (the latter's chorus is spectacular). Thanks to the band grabbing Slash/Alter Bridge-producer Elvis Basquette (himself someone who gets the best out his artists every time), you can tell Trivium have arrived at a whole new plane of musical expertise - one that feels distinctly their own, and one that Matt is having the time of his life exploring the capabilities of.
