2. That 2005 Download Festival Performance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yXYK3emWqg Were you there? Did you see it? Feel it? Slipknot's 2009 headliner went down in history more recently for similar "They've arrived!"-type reasons, but Trivium's first defining moment was Download Festival 2005; an opening stage-slot that the members have since noted they were completely bowled over by. Basically, hardly any band expects people to show up for the very first performance of the saturday, but that wouldn't be the case for Trivium. In fact, it'd be a show that to both the band and the fans, meant more than anything else in their joint history. The hype from Ascendancy the year prior was real, and that meant despite everyone being bleary-eyed from the night before, the field was absolutely rammed with attendees of all ages wanting to check out this fairly unknown artist everyone were raving about. From wall to wall and back again, Trivium drew a headline-sized crowd, something that proved they could handle themselves regardless of any time of day or platform - and when the material itself was pulled off by a 19 year-old Heafy (yes, really) screaming his guts out as the band got to live their dreams, it's one of those legendary performances that'll never be forgotten.
