15 Alternative Christmas Songs That Will Still Make You Feel Festive

5. Christmas Song - Mogwai

As much as Mogwai can polarise opinion (pick a side: Gremlin-like fanaticism or Gizmo-like indifference), there shouldn€™'t be anything provocative about this pretty seasonal piece from the masters of instrumental tomfoolery. It€™s inoffensive and charming; tickled with a subtle piano and string arrangement and just enough sprinkles of electronic trickery to bring out its flavour. It€™s an altogether enchanting little composition. In fact, it€™s downright beautiful.

So much so, in fact, that you€™d quite willingly allow it to carry on for two or three minutes longer. Just enough time for you to polish off your Christmas dinner, guzzle your wine and allow it to lullaby you to sleep for an hour or so. And if there's snow falling outside then so much the better. Dreamy.

Chris James Peet says hello. His interests include hoping for the best and sitting in chairs. He much prefers moaning to counting his blessings and suffers fools gladly. He also likes to look out of the window and check what's in the fridge but he hates standing up, dripping taps and reality.
