Ever since its inception in the mid 90's, pop punk music seemed to have its definitive vocal style trademarked. That nasal tone of voice that everyone used either sends waves of nostalgia to rock fans or utter revulsion in others. While some may not have been able to get over the whine, Gerard Way's vocals always stood out as something special.

Compared to other singers at the time like Patrick Stump or Billie Joe Armstrong, Way's approach to vocals was much more bombastic.
