9. Gold Digger (Late Registration)
Best Line: "But you stay right girl, and when he get on he leave yo' ass for a white girl" Featuring Jamie Foxx straight off of his Academy Award-winning performance in Ray and adapting some of Ray Charles's lyrics, Gold Digger is probably Kanye's most recognizable hit. Co-produced once again by Jon Brion, Gold Digger is one hell of a pop song, and the video graciously brought Kanye's neck jerk dance move into the world. Dealing with unwanted pregnancy, a common issue for Kanye, the song's lyrics were taken from various intended recordings that fell apart and joined together to make the ninth most successful single of the 2000s. Mixing big beats with a juiced up theme from Ray's classic I Got a Woman, this track displays Kanye as a bitter comedian sardonically commenting on his fear of fatherhood and his distrust of women. With one of the catchiest hooks ever used in a rap song, Gold Digger is a fun adventure into the angry mind of Kanye West.
