It's one of those riffs that just bursts straight out the gate, with a scratchy distortion that almost grates on your skin, before Eddie's howl comes in. It's definitely one way to get the listener's attention, as the song is all systems go from there and you can't help but admire that 'choir' part in the bridge too.

From 1998's Yield, it's a garage rock influenced song. It was nominated for a grammy in 1999, along with the album. But for anyone who knows Pearl Jam, after watching documentary PJ 20, that is the last thing they could care about. It is one of the most recognisable Pearl Jam riffs, probably because of its odd structure and pure aggression.

Vedder said "It's another one I'm not singing as myself". It's this experimental nature of the song that made it a hit amongst PJ fans everywhere. That, and the riff that is weirdly catchy.
