15 Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Solos

11. Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC

The final single from AC/DC's acclaimed 1977 album Let There Be Rock, "Whole Lotta Rosie" is based on the true story of a one night stand that Bon Scott had with a Tasmanian woman whilst on one of the band's Australian tours.

The track is essentially an ode to "Rosie", as Bon Scott claims that she is one of the best lovers he has ever had, so much so that he dedicated an entire song to her (how nice of him). "Whole Lotta Rosie" is one of the band's most well known songs during Scott's time with AC/DC, and perfectly showcases his high vocal range throughout the entirety of the track.

Alongside Bon Scott's vocals, Angus Young's guitar work is also worthy of note, as his frantic energy that is present in many other AC/DC songs is also present here, and gels brilliantly with the chaotic and bluesy energy that the song already displays.

The main solo is pure adrenaline, accelerating the song towards an explosive climax that AC/DC are excellent at delivering. The call and response section between the main riff and the solo never fails to send chills down a listener's spine, and serves as brilliant evidence as to why Angus Young is one of the most revered rock guitarists of a generation.
