5. Metal Health (1983) - Quiet Riot
Okay, so we're down to our top five. And what better way to start that off than to include the very first metal album to make it to No. 1 on Billboard 200, Quiet Riot's Metal Health. Yep, this is the album that proved that heavy metal could be commercially successful. Sadly that could probably never happen nowadays (unless it's Metallica, but even that is iffy). Now, I'm not saying that because it went to No. 1, that automatically makes it a great album. That just proves that it's what the kids wanted and were buying at the time. But the album is actually very good. The title track has become an anthem, and Cum On Feel The Noise, the band's most popular song (which is actually a cover from a band called Slade) is still a staple of rock radio today. Other standout tracks include Don't Wanna Let You Go, Love's A Bitch and an awesome solo by guitarist Carlos Cavazo called Battle Axe. Worthy of any collection.
