15 Greatest Queen Songs Of All Time
5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
From: The Game (1980)
Queen changed their sound a bit for this one. Musically, it sounds like rock and roll from the ‘50s, something you’d hear performed by Elvis Presley or Buddy Holly. That Queen would make a track in that musical style doesn’t sound like it would work. But it does, and it works wonders.
“Crazy Little Thing Called Love” is the catchiest song in the band’s entire repertoire, and that’s really saying something. It may lack the energy of “Don’t Stop Me Now”, or the funkiness of “Radio Gaga” and fellow The Game single “Another One Bites the Dust”, but that works to the song’s advantage. It’s so unique from their other songs that it becomes a standout tune in a catalog chock full of standout tunes.
Its legendary status was cemented when Robert Plant sang it to honor Mercury at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
