15 Greatest Queen Songs Of All Time
11. Under Pressure
From: Hot Space (1982)
Freddie Mercury. David Bowie. Singing together. What else needs to be said?
Well, there is that iconic bass line, but it also has a relatable message about the pressure and stress we all experience in our daily lives. Whether you’re a student (high school or college), or someone in the workforce, or someone striving to be a doctor, lawyer, filmmaker, or musician (whatever career path you choose), we all face intense pressure daily to be successful. Thankfully, Queen and David Bowie are here to let us know we are not alone. After all, just because one finds success, the pressure doesn’t go away. If anything, it grows stronger.
“Under Pressure” is the perfect song to release your grievances when facing strong levels of stress, because the world just expects too much, doesn’t it? The track is also great for redeeming what’s otherwise one of Queen’s worst albums (which, ironically, must have put more pressure on the band when working on their next album).
Mercury and Bowie may no longer be with us, sadly, but at least each left behind incredible bodies of work, and this collaboration was something special.
