15 Hilariously Awful Songs Released In The Name Of Charity

7. Artists For Haiti In 2010 - We Are The World 25 For Haiti

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zugOJU8bds To be fair, We Are The World 25 For Haiti doesn't start off too bad considering just how cheesy the lyrics are. There's the nostalgia factor of seeing Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus pre-speeding/twerking (and when Miley had the deeper voice), not to mention Janet Jackson singing with brother Michael's appearance from the original recording. While the original plan was to simply edit and re-release the original, Lionel Richie (who wrote the original with MJ) was determined to record a new version, which had already been planned before the disaster. At the 5.50 mark the song does something strange, however, by switching from the usual melody to a dirty grime-influenced beat, with a rap section featuring will.i.am (who wrote the new verse) and Snoop Dogg amongst others, while Tony Bennett, Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion clap along with the rest of the artists. Truly bizarre, and perhaps because of this, We Are The World is at least 25 time less popular than the original. Or perhaps it's because they didn't invite Bob Geldof along this time.
