15 Landmark Albums That Changed The Face Of Music Forever

5. Nirvana - Nevermind

Love it or hate it, Nirvana€™s Nevermind will always be the most important album of the nineties. While €œalternative€ music was relegated to college radio, hair metal bands like Poison and Warrant were abusing ears on almost every mainstream radio station in the world. In one album, Nirvana changed all of that in Nevermind. Borrowing a great deal from the Pixies, Nirvana nonetheless crafted song after song that would become a response to what had become of music in previous years. As nonsensical as it seemed, €œSmells Like Teen Spirit€ became an anthem for disillusioned kids as well as equally-disillusioned music lovers who had been waiting for something to dethrone hair metal as the kings of the music playground. Subsequent singles off of Nevermind would also play a huge part in ushering the new wave of €œalternative€ music. Mainstream radio quickly changed formats and record labels were constantly in search of any band that could capitalise on this very in-vogue movement. As a mainstream symbol of the burgeoning Seattle €œgrunge€ scene, Nirvana and Nevermind paved the way for successful acts like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains. Take that for what you will. Album Highlights: €œCome As You Are,€ €œLithium,€ €œDrain You€

Just like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse, Mickey Galie is the best friend a good time ever had.
