4. Radiohead - Ok Computer

By 1997, the alternative music was teeming with musicians all trying to emulate Nirvana and the Seattle sound until every band sounded like they were from Washington State. All of this changed when Radiohead released Ok Computer, an album that not only marked a change in the direction of the band but also became a turning point for where alternative music was heading. Ok Computer was an album that seemed less concerned with having €œhits€ and more concerned with having great music. Starting to depart from the sound of their previous work, Pablo Honey and the Bends, Radiohead began incorporating electronic music and crafting lyrics that would be debated and analysed for years to come. Something that was considered potential musical suicide turned into an overwhelming success.
