LCD Soundsystems debut album holds a rare distinction of being a reflection of time passed; both in and ahead of its time in one fell swoop. As a reflection of musical eras that had come and gone, the album acts as a guide of what was cool and hip in pop, dance, and post-punk since the 70s. That in itself had listeners blowing the dust off of their music collection and finding a new appreciation for artists that had come and gone. By being self-aware of the abundance of pretension - or lack of - found in those respective bands and albums, LCD Soundsystem were able to remove themselves from the same trappings they faced. In one album, James Murphy was able to create a sound that was too cool for school and also didnt take itself seriously. The combination of the two was the missing ingredient in moving the dance-punk scene one step further. LCD Soundsystems first album opened the dance-floor and made it bigger, not just for fans but for artists ready to take their fusion of styles to the next level. Album Highlights: Daft Punk Is Playing At My House, Tribulations, Losing My Edge
