15 Love Songs For Valentine's Day

5. Method Man feat. Mary J Blige €“ I'll Be There For You/You're All I Need To Get By

http://youtu.be/siXunj15hKc Rap's not renowned for its love songs, I mean some people even consider it quite misogynistic. I don't see where they could wild ideas like that from, not when there's this collaboration between Method Man and Mary J Blige. Though in all seriousness this song was a little out of character for rap back when it came out, not often were rappers wearing hearts on their sleeve with expressions of love. Then here you had Method Man rapping about he'd be there for his love, because there are few things that last forever, but his lady. Even the sample of Biggie doesn't mess around with this songs intent as it states 'I swear to God I hope we fucking die together.' Not just a great love song, but a brilliantly moody and atmospheric classic.

4. Fiona Apple €“ Jonathan

http://youtu.be/ABtDxEQLURU First and foremost, this is a stunning Fiona Apple song, and as with her best it walks the line of jazz, smoky atmosphere, beautifully intricate melodies, and Miss Apples entrancing vocals. Jonathan comes across somewhere between a piano ballad and a smouldering jazz number. In parts it sounds uncomfortable and pained, but love isn't easy and it's not sweet melodies and birdsong all the time. While the music may represent loves turbulence, Apple's lyrics as ever are frank and free with passion and emotion as she sings to Jonathan, pleading that he tolerate her little fist tugging on his 'forest chest' and that she doesn't want to talk about anything, she just wants be close to him. The lyrics even cover Jonathan's past relationships, as Apple sings how anyone who he has ever 'done' are alright with her, because they've made him who he is today, with her, because she just likes watching him live.
