15 Most Distinctive Singing Voices In Rock & Metal

13. Steven Tyler

It's almost poetic that a man with one of the biggest mouths in the world of rock would also be able to produce such a distinctive sound from it. Aerosmith may have dabbled in a lot of different genres and subgenres over the years, but through it all was the unmistakable supersonic shrieking of Steven Tyler.

One has to wonder how a human voice can physically soar to such heights. He's certainly not the only one - Motley Crüe, Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses and countless others all boast a frontman whose voices have the power to shatter six-inch glass - but the unique bluesy twangs and fast syllabic sequences he implements are what makes Tyler's singing stand out from the crowd.

Even in the lower ranges, where dogs aren't reeling at the sting of his high notes, Steven Tyler's old-timey vocal qualities still manage to shine through. One need only listen to the band's famous single, 'Dream On', to experience every dimension of the Aerosmith legend's singing chops in action.
