11. Minutemen - What Makes A Man Start Fires (26:39)
When the Minutemen hit the scene in 1981, they sounded like no other punk band at the time. Neither indebted to their West Coast, hardcore roots (think Black Flag and Dead Kennedys) nor to the "traditional" punk elders, the Minutemen accomplished the impossible in punk: they sounded like nothing else around. But though it was the funky, rhythmic assault of their debut album, The Punch Line, that put them on the map, they put out their best work once they realized they didn't have to play as fast as their appendages would allow.
