8. The Lemonheads - It's A Shame About Ray (29:46)
College radio mainstays The Lemonheads toiled in obscurity for a few years, releasing messy punk-lite albums that hinted at the possibility of a sensational pop band under the surface. It took five albums to unearth the band's signature sound (jangle pop with a healthy dose of punk and folk melodies), but it was presented as perfectly as you could ever hope for on 1992's It's a Shame About Ray. The album has endless replay value and remains the Lemonheads' most accessible collection by far. A Little Taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NofWFKSMiM4
