14. Our Lady Peace
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O94CW_tIEzU Speaking of that Seattle sound, Our Lady Peace is one of the many bands accused of riding the coattails of the grunge explosion without really offering anything new to the equation. Which is crap. If anything, they were riding the coattails of the Smashing Pumpkins, who definitely don't count as a grunge act. Regardless of how derivative OLP may have sounded (and they certainly did...at times), they also put together some of the most timeless tunes of the era. Go back and listen to anything off Naveed or Clumsy and you'll hear that they weren't just copycats of the sound evolving around them. They were helping push that sound forward while everyone was taking all the credit. Really, OLP's only crime is that they had a lead singer with a voice that had a tendency to rely on Billy Corgan-esque vocals. Their sound became a little flat by the turn of the century, but hey, at least we'll always have "Starseed."
