13. Sloan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl-li6iFI84 "Why don't you guys like us?" should have been the title of every Sloan album from 1994 on. Despite being one of the most popular bands in their native Canada, these guys were never able to get noticed anywhere else. And when you take a listen to any of the 30-plus songs the band released as singles (seriously, this band was prolific), it's almost unfathomable to think that only their very first song, "Underwhelmed," grabbed any attention outside of Canada. Maybe it's that overall "nice guy" vibe they give off in their songs that turns people off. (Apparently those types really do finish last.) Chris Murphy's shoe-gazing poetry was given a perch atop the chiming guitars and slinky bass lines, and might have sounded a little too polished for fans of the 90's gritty revolution. But removed from the requirements of what made a "good" rock song in that time period, there's no excuse for not applauding the craftsmanship and heart Sloan puts into each and every album.
