15 Most Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of All Time

12. Unmasked - KISS

At the beginning of the 80's, it was not a good time to be in KISS. The band was just coming off of the record Dynasty, which left many members of the KISS army feeling betrayed due to the disco hit "I Was Made For Lovin You."

Going into Unmasked, fans were even more disappointed that this record didn't have a legitimate hit on it outside of the fan favorite "Shandi." This may not have been the KISS we used to know, but the results were some of the greatest power pop ever to come out of the early 80's. Power pop had already been a household name with bands like Cheap Trick coming up the ranks, but songs like "Tomorrow" and "Easy As It Seems" prove that the band is more than capable of knocking out a killer pop hook.

Even for the staunch defenders of the band's metallic side, the songs from Ace Frehley are some of the record's biggest highlights like the crunch of "Two Sides of the Coin" and "Torpedo Girl." The classic era of KISS was about to come to a screeching halt after this record, but the end results still showed just how good this band was even in their dysfunctional state.
